Production of Cabs for Construction Machinery

Production of cabs for forklift trucks, construction machinery, railway maintenance vehicles, and special vehicles

Cab Construction

From sheet metal to the finished structure

Construction of Forghieri’s cabs starts in the structural plant, where steel and aluminum are transformed into robust, certified structures ready for assembly. This is where our core know-how is concentrated: cutting, bending, welding, and finishing are carried out entirely in-house, by qualified personnel using the latest technology. Managing the entire structural machining and manufacturing process internally means guaranteeing constant, certified quality, reliable delivery times, and full traceability of every process.

The Structural Production Process

The production flow follows a strict sequence, managed by our Manufacturing Execution System (MES), which generates pull production orders for each phase, in keeping with the Lean philosophy. The operations comprise:

  • automated cutting of sheet metal and hollow-section profiles;
  • rolling, drilling, and bending to obtain the required geometry;
  • jigging and preparation for assembly;
  • manual and robotic welding (flat and 3D), in accordance with ISO 3834-2 and EN 15085-2 standards for the production of railway vehicles;
  • finishing and painting, to ensure strength, aesthetic quality and corrosion resistance.

FAQ
What processes are carried out in Forghieri's structural metal plant?

Cutting, bending, rolling, manual and robotic welding, and finishing.

Why is the structural work performed in-house?

Because it allows us to achieve constant quality, guaranteed timeframes, and complete traceability without depending on external suppliers.

How do you verify the quality of the structures manufactured?

With dedicated inspection procedures on the individual parts in production, with advanced dimensional checks using equipment such as 3D scanners, specific jigs, and metallographic analysis. All this is managed by our Quality Assurance department.

What happens after the structural work is complete?

The structures are painted, and the glass and other components required are installed
