First phase of Toyota audit at Forghieri yields positive results

Interview with Mirko Corsini, Quality Manager at Forghieri

TMHMF recently visited the Forghieri facilities with a view to launching a new partnership. The Supplier Parts Tracking Team (SPTT) identified zero non-conformities, highlighting the rigor and accuracy of Forghieri’s process and quality controls. The meeting marked a key milestone in the validation process, which is set to conclude in the coming weeks to ensure on-time product delivery by early September.

We asked Mirko Corsini, Quality Manager at Forghieri, to briefly describe what happened.

What were the key factors in the success of this project?

“As mentioned earlier, the limited time available was certainly a challenge, but we managed to overcome it through the daily coordination of a dedicated task force that involved the direct participation of the following departments: Quality, Purchasing, Technical Office, Production, and Project Management.

The validation activities,” adds Mirko, “covered the following areas:

  • First Article Inspection on finish assemblies and subcomponents;
  • Collection of Material Certificates;
  • Development of manufacturing and inspection instructions;
  • Specific training for the production and inspection personnel involved;
  • Approval activities for newly introduced glass part numbers;
  • Clause-by-clause compliance;
  • Creation and validation of checking fixtures;
  • Creation and validation of jigs;
  • Validation of critical welds.

What results were achieved following such a significant undertaking for Forghieri?

“The project culminated in the customer audit,” Mirko replies, “the first official one, which yielded numerous comments attesting to the quality of the work performed. The quality audit yielded very positive results, confirming the effectiveness of Forghieri’s processes. Among the strengths that stood out were digital data integration, which guarantees operators constant access to the most up-to-date technical drawings, and an excellent traceability system that allows for quick identification of the production times and personnel responsible for each individual component.”

What are your final thoughts on this recent experience?

“The collaboration we’ve launched with TMHMF,” concludes Mirko, “represents, in my view, a highly valuable opportunity for our growth. Direct interaction with a partner of this caliber provides us with a concrete stimulus on our path toward continuous improvement and the pursuit of operational and design excellence. Engaging with an organization renowned for its rigor, methodology, and quality offers a valuable opportunity to enrich our expertise, put our know-how to the test, and further strengthen our technical culture.

At the same time, this relationship also hints at prospects for potential future commercial developments: the trust demonstrated by Toyota France in the way we managed the X380 project can in fact open up development scenarios that go beyond technical validation alone, creating potential new market opportunities and strengthening our international credibility.

In summary, this is a collaboration that not only highlights the work done to date but can also become a key driver for our future growth, both in terms of quality and commercial expansion.”
